For the past several months behind the scenes at Langham Partnership Australia our team has been working on something big. This big and exciting thing is Langham Literature Australia, a new structure as part of Langham Partnership Australia.
This NEW entity won’t change our work in supporting and funding ministry in Majority World countries. However, it will make it possible for you – our partner in ministry – to give tax-deductible donations to some of our projects.
Langham Partnership Australia CEO Gillean Smiley says, “We have been praying for this development for many years now, as it opens opportunities for our valued donors to claim their gifts as well as others to give for the first time. We pray God will use it to help maximise our ability to support the global church.”
We are so grateful for the generous support for Langham Partnership Australia over the years from many of God’s faithful people. Such financial partnership has enabled our programs in the Majority World to double in scope and impact over the past five years, and we look forward to continuing to deliver at this level, with God’s gracious provision through supporters such as you.
Gifts, until now, have not been tax-deductible, however, the newly formed Langham Literature Australia has enabled us to achieve Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, meaning that some gifts are now eligible for a tax deduction.
Types of projects now able to receive your tax-deductible donations include:
- Bible Commentary development and publishing
- Distribution of books to theological colleges
- Supporting Majority World publishing houses
- Scholars where the work is designed to produce a written text
- And not just the written word – also our podcast ‘Out of the Margins’!
Gillean Smiley says, “The development, publishing and distribution of good quality Christian literature is of crucial importance to Christians worldwide, and Langham has always been closely involved with ensuring our brothers and sisters have access to these resources. ”
We hope that our regular supporters will continue to donate to the ministry as they currently are doing. We will still depend heavily upon your unrestricted gifts to be able to allocate funds to where they are most needed at the time. However, we also hope that having tax-deductible gifts to part of the ministry will mean others can give who haven’t done so previously and that we may be eligible to apply for grants to some foundations that require DGR status.
Gifts to Langham Literature projects will need to come to a different bank account than other donations, and we will always clearly give you the right details for the appropriate project! In addition to our usual receipts, we will send you a tax receipt for the tax-deductible gifts at the end of the financial year.
