A note from Gillean

CEO of Langham Australia

Dear friend,

It was an honour and a privilege to attend the 4th Lausanne Congress in Seoul in September. 5000 Christian leaders from 205 countries assembled in the largest global gathering of evangelical Christian leaders in the history of the Church.

Together we affirmed our shared faith – see the Seoul Statement online – and collaborated on how to close the remaining gaps in the Great Commission. As many well-known leaders took the stage to lead us in Bible exposition as well as discussion of crucial issues such as Justice, the Persecuted Church, Evangelism in the Workplace and more, it was encouraging and uplifting to see how many of the speakers were Langham Scholars or otherwise connected to the Langham family.

It was very clear that Langham has made a powerful impact in raising up and equipping leaders for the global church, and their contribution was priceless.  Approximately 45 of the Congress’s delegates were from Langham, including Scholars, representatives of the Literature program and of the Preaching program as well as two of the National Members.

Our International Director, Riad Kassis was also present, despite the turmoil and heartbreak of what is happening in his homeland of Lebanon, and we continue to pray for the many members of the Langham family who live in places torn by conflict and  very real danger. We look forward to seeing the repercussions of the 4th Lausanne Congress on integral mission for many years to come.
