Last year, Pastor Tukana Nakesu from Fiji took on the position of Regional Coordinator for Langham Preaching in the South Pacific, with support from Rev Stephen Williams, the previous Coordinator. Tukana’s appointment reflects Langham’s goal for each Preaching movement worldwide to be led by local, indigenous leaders.

Pastors are the backbone of the global church, which is why Langham Partnership is passionate about training. Our program is designed to give pastors what they need to minister and ensure they are able to go back and continue to further the kingdom.
There are three levels to the training:
- Level 1 covers Biblical interpretation and foundational principles of preaching
- Level 2 focuses on the New Testament and continues the principles of preaching
- Level 3 focuses on Old Testament preaching
Together, the three levels equip pastors to effectively communicate all of God’s Word in a faithful, clear, and relevant way.

After the completion of the three training sessions, there is an option for participants to become trainers. From the 5th to the 9th of May a group of 16 Church leaders from across the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea gathered at SIL Ukarumpa for the Training of Trainers seminar.
Facilitators included Tukana, Stephen Williams and Willie Toito, the local movement Coordinator. The 16 who had gathered are those who have gone through all three levels of Langham workshops and some have even gone on to run level 1 in their local churches! Tukana shares, “We were greatly encouraged by the work that is happening in the Eastern Highlands, especially with the leadership of Pst Willie Toito and the church leaders around him who have continued to run preaching clubs and level 1 Training without much resources and support.”

We thank God for the facilitators and church leaders in Papua New Guinea that are continuing to grow in their preaching and teaching more leaders in their local communities how to read and share God’s Word. Please continue to pray for these leaders and communities, that more people will know the hope of Jesus. Pray that this Preaching movement will spread into other parts of Papua New Guinea.
