Pray for the Middle East

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 1 Timothy 2:1–2

As we watch the news and see the growing conflict involving Iran and other nations, our hearts are reminded of how broken and fragile our world can be. As Christians, we are called not only to be aware of the suffering around us but to bring it before God in prayer. Scripture reminds us to pray for peace, for leaders, and for all people. In moments like these, when conflict and tension rise among nations, we turn to the Lord, asking Him to bring mercy, protection for the innocent, wisdom for leaders, and ultimately His peace in a hurting world.

Please join us in prayer for the Langham-connected church leaders in the region. These are pastors, teachers, ministry leaders and authors whom Langham is actively supporting on their PhD journey, as well as those who have graduated and serve in full-time ministry.

These are leaders like Hikmat, who pastors a church in in the war zone that is helping to shelter some of the hundreds of thousands of displaced people in his country; Walid, the Academic Dean of a seminary in the Middle East that is also helping shelter displaced families; Rula, who leads a peace-building ministry in the heart of the war; the coordinator of Langham’s preaching movement in the Middle East region, who is unable to travel home right now; and many more.

For them, the current crisis doesn’t stop their work or ministry—it intensifies the urgency of their calling to equip faithful disciples who spread the gospel in their communities and nations. In the midst of uncertainty, they are caring for the heightened physical, spiritual and emotional needs of the people they serve.

“Even in the middle of fear, God is still drawing people close and caring for them through His family,” Hikmat’s church shared.

Please pray that the Holy Spirit would safeguard these church leaders and renew their strength so that they can continue serving and loving their neighbors in Jesus’ name.

Thank you for being part of this story. Because partners like you are supporting key leaders, the church in the Middle East is better equipped for “such a time as this.”
