A note from Gillean
CEO of Langham Australia
As I write, our hearts are going out to those suffering as a result of the earthquake in Turkiye and Syria.
The images of destruction and heartbreak remind us of how fragile life is, and how quickly our lives can be shattered. Where do we turn in times of despair and trauma?
Our Majority World brothers and sisters, who have lived experience of crying out to God for help and strength, drawing on the Word of God for their hope, have produced a wealth of resources that can be used in times such as these.
Rico Villanueva discusses the Psalms of Lament in his book “It’s OK not to be OK”, Riad Kassis offers his book “Frustrated with God: A Syrian Theologian’s Reflections on Habakkuk” and a team of Majority World authors have contributed to the book “Tackling Trauma: Global, Biblical and Pastoral Perspectives” edited by Bishop Paul Barker – to name just a few of the voices speaking into this space.
We thank God for His faithfulness and care even as we hold up the victims of the earthquake in our prayers.
