The cascade effect in Benin

Paul’s encouragement to Timothy is well known as a model for discipleship and leadership training: to entrust the truth to reliable men who will be qualified to teach others. This same principle applies to the Langham Preaching movements, where the cascade effect is built into the training: to equip preachers who can then train others. Langham country coordinator for Benin, Emile Houedanou, explains more:

‘This month the level 3 Langham Preaching seminar drew together 22 pastors. All of the local facilitators from Langham Benin were also present. Each local trainer was involved in the running of the programme, which encouraged them to practice their training.  So they led the workshop discussions, led the meetings, the discussions after the talks, and two of them gave a Bible exposition. It is proof of the progressive effectiveness of the training which they have received over these past three years.  Praise the Lord!

‘It is very encouraging to see the enthusiasm and determination which the local trainers showed during the seminar.  They resolved to re-energise the preachers clubs.  In fact, they immediately drew up their plans for 2013, and they each decided to organise a level 1 in their own locality, for the pastors and preachers in the area.

‘As for the national committee, they decided to organise the first regional training in Parakou, the largest city in the north of Benin, and where Muslims are dominant.   I thank the Lord for these results and pray that He will allow us to keep on course – that the local trainers, as well as the committee, will always be willing and available to maintain the ministry of the preaching of the Word in Benin.’
