Langham Austalia May 2013 Newsletter
Langham Australia May 2013 Newsletter now available

This edition includes three articles on the important work of Langham Literature:

  • Partnering with a Publishing House in Turkey ("we believe it is vital to get good Biblical literature into the hands of the Turkish church as soon as possible")
  • How one book makes a difference (the ongoing impact of the Africa Bible Commentary), and
  • The end in sight for the South Asia Bible Commentary (written by Asians for Asians!).

Langham Preaching is highlighted by the article "Confluence: the flowing together of Prayer, People and Place", vividly describing a training event earlier this year in Kenya.

The lives and varied experiences of some Langham Scholars can be seen in the article "Reconciliation and Renewal" and snippets of news about Langham Australia Scholars.

Also, Rev Dr Chris Wright, Langham's International Ministries Director, reflects on his recent visit to Australia.

For your prayers
  • Give thanks for the recent visit of Chris Wright to Australia and New Zealand, and particularly for the opportunity to engage with 4500 men at Katoomba Men's Convention in February-March.
  • Pray that those who participated in the recent Training of Local Facilitators in the Preaching Program in Vanuatu will put into practice what they've learned  and that the Lord will guide and bless those travelling to run training in other regions/islands.
  • Pray that God will raise up donors to support Langham Preaching in Indonesia.
  • As the South Asia Bible Commentary nears completion, pray for all those involved in the final stages of producing this much needed resource for the entire South Asia region.
  • Continue to pray for scholars in Australia
    • Ronald Lal Din Suah who is nearing the completion of his PhD at Ridley College, Melbourne. He would value your prayers in these final stages of writing his thesis. Pray also for him as he pastors a small church of refugees from Myanmar in Melbourne and that the Lord will provide for this group who will really miss Ronald and his family when they return home later in the year.
    • Qaiser Julius’ who is now in his 2nd year with his studies at Melbourne School of Theology. Pray for him with an increasing number of speaking invitations and opportunities.
  • And for scholars who have returned home:
    • Alfred Olwa is doing well in his ministry at Uganda Christian University. He, together with his wife Susan, and daughter, Hope, visited Sydney recently as Alfred was invited to speak at the Moore Theological College Graduation.
    • Ma’afu Palu continues in his busy role at Sia’atoutai College in Tonga. Ma’afu was recently part of the Pacific Preaching Programme Consultation held in Brisbane and is actively involved in plans to begin a Preaching Programme in Tonga.
