Preaching in Zambia, Cambodia, East Africa, indonesia and Ghana [4 November 2013]
Dear Friends
Thank you for your prayers for the work of Langham Preaching around the world. Here are some items for prayer and thanksgiving this week!
Zambia: Forty local pastors met in Ndola last Monday for an introduction to Langham Preaching. Siseho Minyoi (country coordinator) reports that this ‘appetizer’ concluded with the pastors requesting the full Level 1 training, now planned for April 2014. Please pray for the committee as they add this new area to their work.
Cambodia: Following the recent training of trainers’ event, Sin Somnang (country coordinator) asks us to pray for the pastors who met to make plans for developing new preachers’ clubs in their churches, as well as to commit themselves to the peer evaluation of each other’s sermons.
East Africa: A workshop for trainers will be held in Nairobi from Wednesday to Saturday, with people from Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania participating. Please pray for safety in travel and for Mike McGowan and Jennifer Cuthbertson as they facilitate the occasion. It is the first of its kind in Africa, with the goal of developing strong training teams in each of these countries.
Indonesia: This is the second of four consecutive weeks of Level 1 training in this vast country. From Manokwari (West Papua, in the distant east), to Kupang (Timor, near the center), and then on to Kabanjahe (North Sumatra, in the distant west) for two weeks. Please pray that the training team will be sustained. On Thursday, in Kupang, a meeting is expected to formalise a memorandum of understanding with the synod of a denomination (GMIT) which will open the door for an involvement with 1600 churches in Timor. Please pray for this collaboration and the ongoing growth of the work.
Ghana: Please pray for the ongoing Level 1 training which is taking place in Accra and Cape Coast. Currently 20-30 participants, from different denominations and Bible schools, attend the training in Accra and 16 in Cape Coast. Victor Obeng asks us to pray that the training which participants receive will be consolidated and applied to their preaching.
Thank you for your prayers!
