Preaching in Indonesia, Guyana, Mongolia, Tanzania, Nigeria… 31 Mar 2014

31 March 2014 |

Dear Friends

Thanks for your support for the work of Preaching. Here are the items for prayer and praise for the week ahead.

Indonesia: Rosemary Aldis and Paul Barker (Facilitators) inform us of an excellent Level 2 in Bogor with 96 participants and 20 national trainers, facilitators and local committee members from all over the country. The translation of books into a new Indonesian series on homiletics is underway and many Protestant church synods are requesting that their Pastors attend Langham training. This week a Level 1 event will take place in Sumatra. Rosemary writes ‘it’s exciting to see what God is doing here through Langham Preaching’.

Guyana: Harold Garrett (Country Coordinator) writes after the Level 1, 2 & 3 event held earlier this month – ‘please accept and express our deep gratitude to all the Langham family for their support. The participants and facilitators alike experienced the blessedness of the entire programme’. Below are some testimonies from those taking part in the training.

‘This seminar has helped me to look deeper into God’s Word and to help my congregation in how to share his Word to others’

‘The training has opened my mind to understand how important the application of the text is in preaching to the world’

‘My life has been impacted….and I am more equipped to preach the Word’.

Mongolia: On Monday up to 40 church leaders will gather in Ulaanbator for a line-up meeting, convened by Bayar Garam (Langham Scholar). Flight delays and cancellations mean Paul Windsor is held up in Hong Kong and will now not be able to make this meeting. Although a real disappointment to Paul and Bayar, please pray that despite this setback there will be ‘good attendance, strong participation, clear outcomes and, if the decision is to commence a work in the country, an active local committee.’

Tanzania: In Magu, 63 participants are expected to attend a Level 1 event which will be held from Friday until the following Tuesday. Eunice Lutema and Elkana Gonda (Country Coordinator) will facilitate this event.

Zambia: On Saturday 30 participants are expected to attend the continued Level 1 training in Lusaka. Siseho Minyoi (Country Coordinator) asks us to pray for the continued commitment of the students and facilitators to this training.

Nigeria: This week a Level 1 and 2 will be held in Ibadan. Ademola Ishola, Gideon Para-Mallam and Philip Babarinde will facilitate the training for 60 participants from the South Western states of Nigeria. Emeka Egbo (Country Coordinator) asks us to pray for the ‘passion of the participants to return with them to their churches and as they practice what they have learnt in the week’.

Thanks for your prayers!
