Prayer in Colombia, Latin America, Burundi…

Dear Friends

Thank you for your continued prayers for the work of preaching around the world. Here are the items for prayer for the week ahead.

Colombia: This week a Refresher Day event will be held in Medellín for 150 pastors and leaders from all over the country and also some other countries, including Ecuador. Igor Améstegui (regional coordinator, Latin America), Jorge Atiencia, Alex Chiang, Diego Cardona, Manuel Reaño and Dionisio Orjuela (regional coordinator, Central America), will facilitate the training on ‘How to Preach the Proverbs’. Dionisio asks us to pray for ‘safety in travel and the finance needed for participants, alongside wisdom for the facilitators to teach the book of wisdom.’

Latin America: Following on from the above event on Saturday, a Latin American Regional Team meeting with Jorge Atiencia, Dionisio Orjuela, Alex Chiang and Igor Améstegui will take place. Please pray for the team as they meet to evaluate the first training of new facilitators which took place in June of this year and also plan the follow up event to be held in June 2015 in the city of Lima, Peru. Igor asks us to pray ‘that the Lord Himself will lead the meeting and the planning process.’

Hong Kong: A seminar is being held in China this week in a provincial capital. Around 65 pastors and church leaders from seven neighbouring provinces will attend. Pray for the team of facilitators Victor Sun (regional coordinator), Rennie Tsang, Lim Soon Lee and Ye Enfu), the need for coordination, planning, translation and safe travels. Victor asks us to pray that ‘the participants will be encouraged to put into practice all they will be learning and be equipped to proclaim the Word despite the recent tightening of church activities by some provincial authorities.’

Burundi: Emmanuel Bagumako (country coordinator) will facilitate a Level 1 from Thursday to Saturday in Ngozi. During this event he will also be training local facilitator Salomon Nibigira with a view to him helping to lead the work in the north of the country. Emmanuel asks us to pray that those who are travelling long distances will arrive safely and also for himself as he is struggling with a back complaint which makes travelling painful.

Zimbabwe: The fifth out of eight Saturdays leading to the completion of a Level 1 will take place this week in Bulawayo. Lennon Mazonde will facilitate the event for 30 people from within and around the city. John Bell (country coordinator) writes ‘praise God for the commitment of the Level 1 participants to the preaching clubs that take place after the training sessions.’

Thanks for your prayers!
